Abington has benefited from Republican leadership for many years. One of the main sources of satisfaction for many of our residents is our strong local government that provides the quality of life we all enjoy.
The Board of Commissioners serves as the legislative body of the township, setting policy, enacting ordinances and resolutions, and adopting budgets. Because of the commissioners elected status, an individual in that position is often looked on as a community leader. Commissioners are the proper recipients of complaints, ideas and suggestions concerning township affairs. They oversee issues that affect our daily lives such as public safety, trash and snow removal, roads and signage, code enforcement, sewers, parks and recreation, and all township communal interests.
In many cases the commissioner is called on to act as a problem solver for township citizens with all municipal or even outside agencies. They listen to the voices of the citizens and evaluate the merits of their concerns.
Here are the Republican members of the Abington Board of Commissioners. Your ward commissioner would be happy to discuss local events or concerns with you by telephone or at one of our scheduled ATRO events.
